This document outlines the warranty periods for defects in contracted work that the contractor is responsible for after handover to the Department of Highways. Generally, the contractor must guarantee the work for a period of 2 years, except for certain types of work with warranty periods of 1 or 3 years. Work that must be guaranteed for 1 year includes earthworks, dirt roads, unlined drainage ditches, gravel shoulders, unprotected side slopes and bridge approaches, unprotected cut slopes, planting grass, planting trees, road markings, and general painting. Work that must be guaranteed for 3 years includes equipment used in the installation of lighting and traffic signals (excluding light bulbs).
